truck shutting down
It is a 97 powerstroke with 252,000 miles or so. I thought it was water in the fuel but I'm not so sure anymore. I can crank it up and let it idle far ever, but I get it and drive it around it starts missing, rpm's go down(even when I put it to the floor), and it will shut off. It will take a minute or two to get it back started and then it will run fine for a while. It does it on both tanks, and does it randomly. Any thoughts on what it could be or where to start looking.

Re: truck shutting down
Fuel pressure maybe
I made my Samsung SGH-I997 send this. |
|

|
Yup fuel pressure needs to be checked

Ok how do I go about checking the fuel pressure? Or the other things mentioned pretty new to working on these trucks, so feel free to explain if you don't mind, and ill definitely do some research. Thanks for the help

There is a shrader valve on the driver side of the fuel bowl, probably with a valve stem cap on it. Make sure you use a gauge that will read at least 100 psi

What is the fuel pressure supposed to be at, and will any gauge that goes up to 100psi work?

|
60-70 psi
I use a fuel pressure test gauge, but if you are in a real bind a tire gauge will work but not recommended |

Ok and probably a dumb question but truck needs to be running right? Thanks for the help.

Yes, running and should try to testat wide open throttle also, but I am thinking you wont have much either way
