If the engine looks the same as your 96, it's a PSD. I've seen 94's with "TURBO DIESEL" badges and the PSD motor (ie a 5 speed 1 ton) Probably some marketing thing.

the first few months of the "PSD" motor, Ford stamped it as "Turbo Diesel". Ford just hadn't gotten around to putting a name on it.

just look where the downpipe is located (the angle it comes off of the turbo) and you can tell...

simple:
if it has a flip-up cover on the front of the valley (and fuel filter bowl under the cover) ----> powerstroke, and accessories for 94-97 PSD will fit. Tuners/programmers may be an issue, I think there was a PCM changeover in 95 sometime.

If it has an injection pump and 8 injection lines in the valley, it is a indirect injection ----> not a powerstroke

I had a 94.5 Powerstroke and I tried to put a edge programmer on it and it would say the tune was loaded but it woudn't have any effect on my truck. I had an intake, 3 1/2 inch drop pipe and a straight pipe exhaust and that truck had a ton of power. It out ran my dad's 01 chipped any day, and still got 18 miles to the gallon!
