94 idi with a factory turbo???

Buddy of mine just picked up the truck, it has a build date of 6/94. Its defiantly and idi. It is a turbo, just not sure of it is factory or not.

Looking for a little insight?? I know its mechanical injection, just not sure on all the rest. What kind of performance upgrades can be done? He is looking for a solid DD truck with a little pedal for some fun.

Thanks in advance...

Pics on the way.

Is there a cover/duct running from the turbo to the air intake with a script/oval Ford logo on it? Then it's an IDI-T. There's a separate forum for the IDIs, including the IDI-T.

Aftermarket performance pump, with that along with the turbo, should be a nice rig

That intake isn't factory, but looks decent, 3 models that year tho, idi, idi-t, and psd, you could Vin it to find out or find the "turbo diesel" badge

It is a sidewinder turbo on a IDI. Get a performance pump, throw it on, turn the screw enjoy the new power.

Well I think I am gonna have to vin it... It looks like is a centurian conversion. Turbo diesel stickers not badges, its been painted...

My guess is that its not a stock turbo. Really only got a look at it tonight after work. Gonna try and dive into it this weekend.

I wanna turbo my 86 and put a nice pump and bb code injectors, all pretty cheap mods respectively, compared to decent sticks for my psd, but guy is looking at it Friday and if it don't sell I have 2 trucks to haul from Cali to ga
