Anyone removed RABS from their truck?
I don't necssarily want to physically remove the RABS II valve from my 97. I want to effectively remove the RABS, so when I brake I only get straight forward brakes. Something, and I assume the RABS, has been locking up one rear wheel (usually the inside or passenger rear wheel) when I turn while I am braking under 20MPH.
Has anyone effectively taken the RABSII out of the braking system? If so how? -I assume the RABS valve has to stay on the truck so all the lines can connect up -remove the spring from the RABS valve? -disconnected the connector to the rear wheel speed detector, at the rear differential? How does the braking work after you effectively remove the RABSII. Thanks, BigRedWeather |

Cant you just remove the relay in the power dist. box. The abs light will be on but u can verify if the abs is the issue.

Don't remove the VSS, you need it for your speedometer and transmission if it's auto. It's really simple to disconnect the RABS unit, just drop the glove box and unplug the module. Mine has been disconnected for a few months now with no light. Still have touchy rear brakes at low speeds but that wasn't the reason I disconnected mine.
