u joint problems

well to start ill just state i have a cclb dually 2wd and today i was riding around and my front u joint snapped the one at the transmission connecting to the slip yoke do to the previous owners lake of muscle i guess because all the bolts for the straps were finger tight but the problem is when it broke it pulled one of the threads out of the slip yoke so my ? is has anyone used the chevy u bolt style straps on there obs iam not even sure if one would fit just a thought though
