engine knock, RUH RO RAGGY!

I'm tryin to trade my friend out of a mid 90's ford diesel with the 7.3 powerstroke in it and it's got a knock at idle and it's not an oil knock (like a rod or anything). I think it's coming from the fuel system somewhere, injector or something. .

Anyone have any ideas?

This truck supposedly only has around 150k on it.

Does it sound like a knock or is it cackle. cackle can be louder in cold weather and sound like a knock

Does it have a 5 spd? If so it could be the dual mass goin bad
