1995 7.3 Fuel Filter Problem Changing It

I am tying to figure out the fuel under the lid.

An approximately six inch diameter plastic screw on cover seems to be attached to the filter element, and will not come apart.

I have asked Autozone for a replacement filter for my 1995 PSD 7.3 and it has side clips on the element. There is no screw on plastic part attached to this.

Confused?????

Appreciate ANY Help if someone has time to offer advice,

Larry

normally the filter you get from auto zone they give you the whole thing. it come with the lid and filter already attached. all you have to do is pull teh old one off and put the new on on. 5 min fuel filter change. hope this is what your looking for

You can buy the "new style" lid to work with the filter you have or you can replace the whole thing with the "new new style" that includes the element, lid and gasket all in one.
