Ford vs. GMC

My buddy has a 2006 GMC Duramax. Our trailers are roughly the same weight, our payloads basically the same...yet on the hills, he's PASSING me!
On one of the worst hills in the Fraser Canyon, he blows by me and tells me he has to BRAKE near the summit (because of a tight turn at the top). He even gets better mileage than I do.

Do I just write this off as a case of newer-is-better...or is there something wrong with mine?

...At least I didn't get bested by a Dodge!

COMMON RAIL.... VGT....more fuel, better turbo. it will take same cash to keep up with a D-MAX, is his tuned?

by looking at your sig... i would start with a downpipe and exhaust, and a chip WITH gauges. and then let us know how u feel

A stock duramax will walk all over a stock 7.3 sad to say, they are more powerful. Like ol blue said they have the upper hand with a better turbo and common rail injection plus they are intercooled. But there prices tag is also double if not more then a obs 7.3

Look at it this way. He's probably still paying on that truck and yours is free and clear. I have a 2010 at the house I am truck sitting for a buddy. I have been driving that and I hate it except for the kick *** Bose stereo and how quite the motor is.

Dmax has been the best diesel you can buy from 06 on up, even today. If its a LBZ there is no shame in getting outpulled up a hill by that engine. 360/650 i think in stock form in a pretty light truck. Too bad GM had a weak front end until the 11+ trucks and their 11+ trucks only have an interior slightly better than my 6.0.

Edit: best engine is left stock since 06 to current.

Yup. Those VGT's do wonders. If you put some money into your 7.3, you'll be able to keep up! Maybe not pass, but at least keep up

if ya put money in yoru 7.3 and his ramains as is then you could actually easily show him up, but like everyone said hell a 6.0 would show up our trucks pretty good stock for stock, newer is better and so is technology, but all those can be added to our rigs as well, so its all in how fat your wallet is lol
