Help with sensors
Ok guys i have a 96 with 20,000miles on new motor, turbo, injectors, e-fuel, t500. On start up im getting smoke with a blueish haze but only at idle when cold if i bring the rpms up it almost goes away completely And after a few mins of warm up i cant see any smoke with the truck on high idle. So my question is... Is there a sensor that controls fuel or injection timing that could be bad?
So far i have tried icp, ipr, and intake temp sensor Thanks guys Im also curious about my map sensor i see people talking about a engine light and defueling when overboosted, i push 35psi and i have not had a issue is my map bad? |

It's normal to smoke on a cold start. Diesel likes to burn hot and will smoke some until the cylinders warm up

Some smoke yes but theres more then i have seen on others. My brothers super duty is normal to me it has a puff then its gone. Im not sure if maybe the bigger injectors is to blame. I was able to find a few post about possible injectors leaking into cylinder when it sits. If i run the truck then let it sit for a few hours and it cools down there is no smoke it seems to start smoking after about 8hrs of sitting, the other possibility was valve seals leaking. But i figured i would ask if there was a sensor that could cause it, i also forgot to mention that when it idles and is smoking i can hear a miss or atleast a difference in idle where the idle goes down for a second and goes back up it does it about 10seconds apart
or so Last edited by stroked out; 12-22-2012 at 07:43 AM. |
