i have a 95 dually with the powerstroke. i have spent hours searching through this site, PSN, and other diesel sites. this is the first diesel powered vehicle i have ever owned. however not the first OBS ford i have owned. i had a 96 F250 with a 351 and a zf5 *im assuming* about 6 years ago. it was a bad sob. to me anyway. i always told myself i would own another. and now i have a giant truck.
how i came about this truck is another story on its own and i won't bore yall anymore with details now on with the good stuff. (or to me anyways.) i have been scouring all the sites with as much info as i can come up with heres what im thinking and i would like any input that i may have missed. done already is the idm mod. i can tell a difference. now im hooked for sure. what i would like to do to it. stage 1 injectors. upgrade the turbo (thats where im not quite understanding what needs to happen) 3" down pipe with muffler and cat delete. not wild about stacks (however the truck may get a flatbed at some point) DIY intake. guages. rebuild front suspension or do a solid axle 4x4 conversion (truck may be to big for that)(and if i did the 4x conversion it would go to a zf5 or 6) would like to upgrade the HPOP. new motorcraft glowplugs. electric fuel with bowl delete. and a 6 position chip. is there anything else that can be done to wake this monster up? any input on listed upgrades? thanks.. i forgot to add that it will be getting an intercooler and a ebpv delete. sounds like a good plan but if your only going with stage 1 injectors there is no need for a turbo upgrade the stock one will do just fine

Add a chip 1st. You will be AMAZED what it will do. Just makes sure you add gauges too

What about the 1.0 housing and/or wicked wheel. And would I have to redo the chip for the stage 1's.

Wicked wheels comes stock on these trucks, and yes your will have to get the chip re burned for the new injectors. The 1.0 turbo housing helps spool the turbo faster.

I guess that I was wanting to do something for the turbo cause it will be out for the new pedestal and it's leaking right now. If it had been running hard I can smell oil. And I'm reading that the center section is weak. I knew when I saw the wheel last it didn't look like most wheels. I also found a shutdown timer that I might put on it. Cause if it had been pulling I'll sit and wait a bit before shutting it down.
I also need to address the orange tube at the turbo that is not in great shape. What is everyone putting there? |

Guess I'll have to send them a message cause it shows them to be outta stock.

if you do a lot of towing and use the stage 1 injectors with the 1.0 housing you need to keep an eye on your egt's until you intercool it, good luck with it all sounds like you already have a start to your dream list there

The stage 1s supposedly work really well with the stock turbo.
You build up plan is very similar to what I am hopefully finishing soon on my dually: Rehabbing my 1994.5 |
