International Engine???

I heard somewhere that the 7.3 PSD was made from a diff. company but i didnt know for sure until I saw the sticker on my valve cover today. Pretty awesome. What years did international start and stop making the diesels for Ford?

7.3s, 6.0s, and 6.4s were IH.
For 7.3s, there were direct injection and indirect injection models. I think both were IH also.

I made my Samsung SGH-I997 send this.

They _started_ a lot earlier than that. The International 6.9L is the predecessor to the 7.3, and they were put into Fords going back to, what, '83?

Yes, International had made the diesel engine in Fords pickups since 83-2010

83-87 6.9 IDI Non-turbo
87-94 IDI(turbo was optional in 93/94)
94-97 7.3 powerstroke
99-03 7.3 powerstroke
03-07 6.0 powerstroke
08-2010 6.4 powerstroke (vans had the 6.0 untill 2010)

In 2011 FORD introduced their OWN diesel the 6.7 Scorpion Powerstroke

Looking for Blue 40-20-40 seats. PM me !!!!!!!

I had a 1986 6.9 IDI... Was a trusty old truck but man was it slow... lol

We called it "The 'ord".
I shut the tailgate one day and the "F" fell off.

My '85 gets down the road okay; it's no PSD, but I have no problems getting up the entrance ramps. It's a manual; maybe that makes a difference.

Why do they say the PSD lasts so much longer than the IDI?

Searches say and IDI is good for 300k when a PSD can go for 600k if well cared for of course.
