Red Brake light on

My red brake light is on intermittently on my 96'own ccsb 7.3 when driving down the road. I unplugged the e-brake switch thinking this would eliminate the issue however the light came on again this morning. I checked the master cylinder level it is full and no leaks that i know of. There are no pedal issues whatsoever either. What are the next steps i should take to fix this? Forgot to add that when the light comes on it kicks off my cruise control. Also when I set the cruise I can feel a slight surge ,however it doesn't do this when not on cruise. Don't know if this is all related or not ,please help if you can.

Thanks Jesse

Might Look at your vacuum lines. Low pressure will do this. Mine comes on on initial start up stays on till i start rolling. Kinda annoying but i haven't had time to chase it down

Thanks for the input hopefully its not that but I will have to get a gauge on the pump and see. From what I have read you want it in the 15 to 25 range is that right??

I agree vacuum pump, might not go out today, but is probably on it's way out. Had the same problem in our work truck and the vacuum pump went out and as soon as it was replaced went off. Maybe something else, but I would think vacuum pump.
