Glow Plugs Questions????

OK so today I finished replacing my glow plugs and the wiring. When I would take the plugs out of the head the oil that was on it them smelled burnt. Yet the oil in the head was still good.
Another question is what is the best Glow Plug relay (GPR) I don't want a cheap AutoZone one that fails every year like the last one I bought.

In my opinion the best GPR for our trucks is the Stancor (now White-Rodgers) 586-902. Some folks like the Western Plow 56131K-1 (and it is less expensive than the Stancor). Cheers!
