Dash light colors

Just installed an aftermarket cd/mp3 player I had laying around and it has primarily red background lighting. How hard is it to change the background lighting of my cluster so it matches??

Its not too bad, a little time consuming, I did it on my 97. The gauge cluster n the dash isn't bad, you have to change the bulbs and get the green backing off the back of the little black deals that your speedo n such. So you have to disassemble a pretty decent way

Yep, disassemble the cluster and remove the green paint. Either use colored lamps or LEDs, or re-paint with transparent hobby paint.

Looks good, the only thing I am hearing is its hard to change the HVAC controls also any word on that??

should go exact same way bud, pull the knobs off take the plate off around your a/c controls pull the black thing off, but i couldnt see why you would want to scrape the blue or red off, those are obvious signs of what temp ya want it lol

^^^ x2 there. There are only three bulbs behind the HVAC controls. I have blue LEDs there and I should have just put white ones in for brightness and clarity.

What did you strip the paint with? I used laquer thinner on an old cluster i had and it didnt work very well..

I'm pretty sure Bill just scraped it off with back-strokes (away from the bladed edge) with a razor blade.
