Help Needed for purchasing a OBS PSD
First off, i'd like to say this is the most welcoming forum on the whole internet that i have ever encountered.
Second, I just want to know the things that i should be looking at when buying a powerstroke, and what known problems are major that will pop up either down the road or when i'm looking at one. Thanks! |

I see you are in MI, so ROT is a serious issue.
Radiator supports are NO LONGER AVAILABLE for diesel truck, so just keep that in mine because they are the 1st thing to rot. The aftermarket shows a listing for a diesel one, but they are NOT for a diesel. Rear spring hangers and shackles ROT, but you can replace them all for about $100. Oil pan is another issue. They cost about $225 and the engine has to come out to replace it. That about takes care of the rust stuff. The E4OD is the weak link behind the diesel be weary of flashing lights and slipping. As for the engine, they are tough and can and will go 500,000+ with proper maintenance |

alright thanks man. i was actually looking for a 5 speed, so hopefully i wont have to worry about the E4OD.

check turbo for shaft play, look for leaks under and check valley for fluid too, check fluids test drive it, flip oil fill cap and check for blow by enjoy,

Im about an hour from temperance so if ya find something i could prolly go check it out with ya. Id try to stay away from a 250 so you dont have to deal with the ttb. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a truck up this way for ya

Alright thanks man. i've been up in the brighton area a few times. i'd like to stay away from the TTB also, but i dont think ford made a ECLB in a F350, but then again it's my first powerstroke so i'll pretty much take anything 4x4

ford did make an eclb f350, the only thing you could find that f350 would not be is rcsb, scsb, and ccsb, f350's came in every other size tho if it's short be its 250. as far as psd goes i am not 100% but seems like it would go by the same play book ya know?
