Hard warm starts
HI. I'm new to this forum but not to the powerstroke. I have a 94,180,000mi 50hp chip mostly stock work truck. About 3 weeks ago I started having hard warm start issues. Pulled the IPR cleaned it, new o-rings and went to a real hard start and running bad. IPR was sticking so I got a new one from ITP deisel on e-bay. Put it in and got good start and good run but I still have a hard warm start issue. Sometimes a good clean start sometimes a hard start. HPOP is not leaking down. I can not pull codes yet because I need a newer PCM so I can get the codes with my AE code reader. I am having a hard time finding a newer PCM. Any ideas on what I can check until I can get codes would be apreciated. What are the chances of a bad IPR?

So it's intermittently hard to start? Is it stalling on you sometimes?

Frank, Thanks for the reply. No it never stalled. I think I have my problem fixed now. I was chaseing the problem as oil related, such as IPR and other things. I kept thinking my starter was not turning as fast as it used to . It is the big starter from e bay. I have had it about 7 mo. Well I got another one put it in and it now starts like new. The starter was not turning fast enough to completely start the truck. I think a lot of the hard start issues are starter related but it is hard to tell. Thanks again. Buddy.
