x2 on clearing the lights i tinted mine with the spray from autozone a couple months ago and they had a sorta of flat look to it and alot of it fadded after washing them, i just re sprayed them and 3 coats of clear and my jaw dropped on how good they look so far, ill try to get a picture up in a few min

Retinted and sprayed 3 coats of clear on the lights, im amazed on how good they came out they look even better in person. only regret is tapping off the reverse lights during the clear because they look bad. also painted my buddys tailgate and visor. tommarrow my truck is getting cab lights and gunna finally hook up my pyro gauge

Yeah I'll be clearing and wetsanding. The color is amazing. Matches the strip on the tailgate.

I just scuffed the tail lights down with 1000 grit and cleaned then sprayed the tint on till it got to wear I wanted it then let it fully dry and sprayed three coats of clear And let it dry ill try to get a picture up of then on the truck when I go back on my comp

-- i will add some steps on top of what Zac has said... before you sand the tails, use a heat gun and heat all the oil impurities out of the plastic that will cause fish eyes, and then use a chemical to remove the grease and then a paint prep spray after that to remove the chemical degreaser.
-- after you tint, i would hit lightly with 3000 grit -- when your all done, compund and polish the clear after it has cured may be over kill, but i would defiantly heat the tails and remove all grease ans oils such as wax and washing soaps that have a wax in it. |

Jordan, here's a good comparison of why you should clear coat. Mine are just sprayed. No clear, no sanding. I also opted not to tape off the reverse light patch.

The clears look REALLY good tinted with one good coat. That's the end plan for the rear of my truck.
