Well I actually have an update. Truck is in the garage. The frame is welded out and grinded down. I am now working on cleaning up the rear frame and doing the measuring/angle figuring for the new bed. Gonna try and round up some steel for it tomorrow and get something started

Got some work done today. After the 2 hour internal debate about getting out of bed I went and bought 20 feet of 1.25id Schedule 40 pipe and 8 feet of 2 x 1/4 flat bar to start on the bed cage.

This is just the start to get things going. I scrapped my designs and just started to kinda fabricate it by feel

minus the upper rail that would tie the two top bars together and the 2 rails that would tie each lower together that is how its gonna be. I will build the other side to match then tie them together at the front. Maybe even the rear too but thats to be decided later

The first side isnt done yet, yes flux core. Its what I have. Once its done I am going to take it to school and weld it out using a true MIG machine

It will all be skinned with thin sheet metal once its done. The bed will be useless but I am ok with that. Ive got enough other trucks that can be useful if I need them to be

I am as far as I can go till I get more metal. But got one lower bar in and the top bar in

Yes I know it sticks out a inch to far, my mounts are adjustable so I can work with that.

EDIT: also sitting a hair low. Gotta remember there is only weight on one side. Doing the other side will balance it out. But I do need a slightly more rigid cross piece
