HAVE A 97 F250 4X4 WITH A ROUGH IDLE HARD TO START AND LACK OF POWER ON TAKE OFFS ALSO LOW FUEL MILAGE. TRUCK HAS 241000 MILES NEW FUEL FILTER FRESH OIL CHANGE AND K&N AIR CLEANER. ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREAT.

Have you replaced the CPS? If not they are real cheap at the dealership now just make sure that you get the -B version. Most are reporting in the <$30 range. If it's not the problem then put it in the glovebox so when it does go out you have one with you. The addition of a 10mm wrench in the GB helps too.

The CPS is the cam position sensor.
See if you can get some codes pulled. |

could be injector o rings...on a 97 its just an "edjucated guess" though..there really isnt a great test for it...

Make sure the EBPV is not stuck. It is the butterfly valve located between the downpipe and the turbine housing. If you get someone to crank the truck while you watch the linkage on the bottom of the valve, you should see it move just after the engine cranks. Check the fuel pressure also.

Under valve cover harness's can cause those symtoms also,,,,
Though they are usually intermittant..... |

TRIED TO PULL ANY STORED CODES AND THE DATA PORT IS NOT FEEDING ANY INFO ANY ONE EVER HAVE THIS PROBLEM. ALSO WERE IS THE SCREEN FOR THE FUEL THAT MAY BE PLUGGED
|

REPLACED CPS MADE NO DIFFERANCE.
