Cheap 7.3 E-Fuel Conversion! For $200 or less!! Write Up W/PIX!

94-98 F250-F350
7.3 POWERSTROKE TURBO DIESEL
STOCK FUEL BOWL DELETE.
ELECTRIC FUEL CONVERSION

"I HAVE 4,000 MILES ON THE SETUP, NO PROBLEMS BESIDES THE CHEAP FUEL LINE THAT CAME WITH THE FPR, BUSTED AND MADE A MESS"
__________________________________________________ ______________
Reasons that i did E-Fuel:

My lift Pump went out and left me stranded on the freeway.
i wasnt about to spend $150 for a POS pump.

So i figured ill do efuel for around the same price!

__________________________________________________ _______
#1

Before No space and crowded fuel bowl and pump.

#2 I used a 7/8s freeze plug with gasket sealer pushed down into the old LIFT PUMP HOLE about 3/4 the way.
I cut the banjo circle out of the lines and used 2 4" 3/8 hose peices with hose clamps. I had to bend the lines by hand just a bit to make it perfect but was super easy
(DONT HAVE A PICTURE)

.

#3
Passenger side return line

#4
Plastic T connector used for return line!
I connected those lines into a T reducer that goes from 1/4-3/8 you just cut which part you want. after the T i connected the lines to the Return going to the Tank.

#5 Here you can see the return line bent around the bracket i made.

#6
The Bracket is bolted to the bolt holes for the fuel bowl!
( I used the fuel bowl as a template to drill my holes)

You need to use washers if you use the same bolts ( I did)

#7
I cut a hole in the Bracket i made for the FPR to mount

#8
This is FUEL IN* on the FPR its under the bracket i made so you cant see it. its like a 3" piece with 2 hose clamps! Kinda hard to see!

#9
I used the stock FUEL lines feeding the front of the block connected.
I also used the Stock elbows. All i added was a pipe thread T connector to connect them both!

#10
Where the FPR sits in the valley.
(this is totally customizable since it can go pretty much anywhere)

#11
Bracket welded onto the DRIVERS SIDE frame rail.
here you can see the filter and mount.

#11.1
Fuel pump bracket on the right and Filter on the left.

#11.2
Brackets painted and welded on.

#12
Installed and bolted up. all thats left is to connect the fuel lines!

#13

Fuel pump and FILTER i used
I kept the stock banjo bolts on there they worked just fine.

I painted them green (that was the theme i had at the time)

#13.1
Heres another shot. i Used a bolt and washers to fill the hole ontop of the MErcedes filter housing

#14
Relay bracket i used. Simply wired the pump into the ignition fed by the relay that gets power from the battery.

I also had to modify the IPR harness and cut out all the random wires and just made it a simple setup for the ipr.

I should have made the Filter a little higher, easy to do just raise it a little higher on the bracket.

BEST OF MY MEMORY

Cost breakdown:
[*]Freeze plug $0.75 (Napa)
[*]Gasket Sealer $7.00 (autozone)
[*]Throwing away broken lift pump and crappy fuel bowl headache.. . $FREE
(my garbage can )
[*]FPR (OFF ebay) $36.00 *comes with 2ft of 5/16s line and 2ft of 3/8s (Electronics, Cars, Fashion, Collectibles, Coupons and More Online Shopping | eBay)
[*]3/8s fuel line 12ft (bought to much ) $12.87 (Autozone)
[*]20 hose clamps $12.00 (HomeDepot)
[*]1/4-3/8 Cutable Plastic Fuel line 'T' $7.00 (autozone)
[*]FPR bracket.
Used 16th thick steel cut with a drill press and shaped. then spaced the old bolts holes from the bowl and made a bracket and cut holes, i used the old bolts and just put 3 1/2 washers on each one! (My random pile of scrap steel laying around)
*Use thicker steel for a more solid mount, this ones a little thin and light weight.
[*]Pipe line 'T' For Fuel lines that feed the injectors $7.00 (Toggnoties Auto world) *bottom of FPR*
[*]Random 16th thick brackets for Fuel Pump & Filter maybe $10 bucks tops.
[*]i used scrap metal and welded to my frame. (its gonna be permanent anyways)
[*]Fuel Pump (Off 80-95 Mercedes 560sel or s class mounted under car next to fuel tank, You can get them anywhere at any junk yard cheap) $20.00 (pick & pull)
[*]Fuel Filter assymbly (off of a 300d-300sd Mercedes diesel years 80-87) $7.00 (Pick & Pull)
[*]WIX (napa brand) Fuel filter Custom setup $36.00 (Napa)
[*]Clear Inline metal See-Thru filter $13.00 (kragen)

TOTAL $156.xx

Prices vary.

With this setup ive seen:
1Mpg gain,
Smoother idling.
Faster starting.
Quicker revving

And ease of mind knowing that i have constant fuel PSI!

__________________________________________________ __
Took me a month running back and forth finding the right parts and coming up with cheap ideas.

This is a true Budget Proven Setup. I may need to get a few Fuel pumps for backups just because there used. and if they go bad I have one on tap.[/B]

Well the regulator is the purple thing. Then whatever is left over is returned to the tank.....therefore regulated return. So parts list? Cost?
