hub caps wont fit

i found some hub caps off a 90 body style f250 2x4. i want to put the rears on my 96 f350 4x4 as i dont have any on mine and i cant seem to find anyone selling there factory alloys. i tried to put on the caps and they dont seem to set in all the way. there is a 1/4 gap all the way around the wheel to the cap. did they change the steel wheels from 91-96? seems like the lip on the wheel needs to be greater on my 96. anyone know?

The problem might be the hub not the wheel, the F-250 might have had a semi float rear and the 350 a full floater there for the caps off the 250 won't be deep enough to fit the hub on the 350. Just a thought.

no, you can see where the clips stop on the wheels by the scratches that are on them. it like they need to go deeper. no clearance issue on the hub. still has room to push in the end and not touch.
