Broke rear axle pinion yoke
What do you all think about a rear pinion yoke that got broke from a T-Bone accident from the middle to front on the side?
The axle looks fine but don't know what to think about the gears on the inside. Just wondering if it would be good to put another yoke on it an run it or look for another axle. Thanks for your input. |

if insurance is covering it, then I would ask that the rear end be totally rebuilt. just to be safe, and sure. you might have to drop rear end and look at it against a straightedge line or something to make sure it didnt get tweaked and damage the bearings. You might do this while its still on the truck, i dont know.....

Ok thanks for the reply. I am doing the SAS on my F250 with 3.55 gears The truck was a F350 with 4.10 and I bought the D60 from the front and it looks ok to the eye. Just wasn't sure about the rear axle at the time I bought the front.
Still trying to decide to swap my rear 3.55 for a 4.10 to match or re-gear the D60 front. |

i would first check the pinion shaft for play in it signs of a wore out /damaged bearing and pull the cover off of it and check the gears as someone turns them by hand
