97 f250 brake controller
I bought a 97 F250 about a year ago and am slowly fixing it up to be my every day or every other day driver. The problem I am working on right now is the brake controller. When I bought it the controller was just on the ground with no mount in the truck anywhere. Also, the guy wired it up by just twisting wires together. I've had a couple of sparks from when I turn the corner, the controller slides, and the wires touch with some sparks. I am thinking it is about time to fix this. Does anyone know where I can get a mounting harness? What do you recommend for connecting the wires? These are the two numbers I got off of the box. Thanks for the help.

That second part number is a Ford part number and I'm pretty certain there was never an option for a factory brake controller...
Anyway, you can get a wiring harness for a brake control anywhere that sells trailer/RV stuff usually. It plugs in above the trans tunnel, the plug faces toward the driver side. For connecting the wires, you could either use solderless butt connectors or you could solder/shrink wrap the connections if you have the equipment. |
