Reverse light switch on ZF trans

What the frequency of these things going bad? My lights don't work (have never worked since I bought the truck). I have diagnosed the problem yet but was wonder how frequent they go bad. I need them to back a boat trailer.

Just purchased my 97 F-350, (2/2012). Spent 6 months looking for one in great condition.
146K miles, new alternator, glow plugs, clutch and rear main seal, fuel pump, complete front end rebuilt.
3" TDP 3" exhaust no muffler
Tuner to 140 hp
6" lift reverse shackle
new wheels and tire XD's on 37" Nitto's

No reverse lights

Mine is broke as well. I have check the switched an my switch seems to work. So the problem is in the trans, guess they will stay broke. You could always wire a switch in the cab to jumper the trans switch. Then you could use it when you had to.

Found time to get under the truck....The weatherpack plug-in harness connection is busted up...know where to buy plugs? Guess I try a salvage yard Friday.
