need clutch advice
My dad has a '97 7.3 that has been having clutch trouble.
he put a new 5spd in about 2 yrs ago and a new clutch. the flywheel was changed to the solid one piece style and a new clutch and all the parts from Napa was put in. Now the new clutch is toast. he hauls about 10k pounds of cows+trailer all the time. What clutch will last more than 2yrs in that truck? does someone make a clutch that will hold up? Thanks for any help! |

I liked the SouthBend Con-O that I had in my 94. I wasn't sold on the Kevlar pilot bushing though. If you're in there, change the throwout bearing and the clutch release lever too. Cheers!

The Valair kevlar/ceramic is another good option. I have one I need to get in my truck.

My dad has a valair organic clutch rated for 400/900. It's been in there for 60k miles no problem. He just has a edge programmer, but the truck does pull a good bit.
I just put essentially the same clutch in mine. I like it but I haven't driven it a thousand miles yet, so I can't really give any more info than that. |
