well the idi will never make as much power as the DI diesels, the combustion process is different as in where the fuel is pressurized compared to where it needs to be pressurized to optomize boost, that and the di has pcm's to monitor a butt load of sensors to get it right

DI 7.3s sound better than IDI 7.3s IMO. That is all I have to contribute to this thread lol

A big plus for the idi no electronics needed, only takes one wire to keep it running. They can make well over 300 hp but it is a lot harder to do than with a di.

Didn't Hypermax have a 1000HP IDI at one point?

Something like that, it was a astronomical amount of power.

The 94 that I sold last summer I'm sure was making 300hp or more, that thing would smoke (excuse the pun) my crew cab and most every other powerstroke around here on the bottom end up to about 70 mph then the powerstrokes would catch it at about 85. I couldn't get enough fuel to it at the top end without putting a bunch of money into it.

I've heard the IDI's are next to indestructable. That being said, I don't know if I'd personally own one, just cause I like lots of power
