Fellas listen to this horses*&T. So I found a great deal on a dana 60 along with the rear end in Jacksonville. So I went down and got it last night. ON the way back about five miles from the house, my transmission crapped out on me. Thats like karma. Great deal on axels but tranny gives out to make up for the money saved. I need help. I am trying to look at this positively. I found a e40d in Clearwater, Fl the guy is asking $400 with TC. Should I go ahead and try and find a 6.0 tc to put in it? Plus nobody headed north to GA from Clearwater anytime soon are they?

I found a bunch of C6 tranny's is it even worth putting one of these in the obs?

your trans is pcm controlled, if you throw a c6 its just gonna act funny, but 400 is a good deal, sorry bout your luck bro, and you may as well locate a 6.0 tc since you got it out, and go for the 4r100 pan and see about a good VB too

C6 won't bolt up. And $400 is EXTREMELY cheap for a working E4. Generally thats just what a core would go for. So there's a good possibility that one is trashed. Also, it has to be from a 4wd diesel.

Just be prepared to be buying another one shortly though. That one may last you a while and be fine, or it may already be at the end of its life and is toast.

I'm hoping for the best. The guy tells me the truck it was in burned up and the transmission had 20,000 miles on it after a fresh rebuild. I looked at the TC and it looks brand new. I know all of this is circumstantial and it could very well be a piece of sh** but I still have faith there are some straight shooters out there and I pray this guy is one of them.

Got the tranny in and it works. The torque converter still had the warranty sticker from the ford shop so hopefully it will last a while. 2nd shifts pretty sturdy but other than that it does its job. I want to rebuild my old transmission anyone have advice on performance kits. It would be good to have another e40d working incase this one craps out and I want a performance tranny for when I upgrade injectors and the like.
