tow rig performace questions

i drive a 97 f-350 cclb. love the truck, definetly will never go back to extended cab, they suck! i bought this truck for the fact i do alot of towing and my f-150 was dying trying to haul all my junk around. the truck has 35's on it which i think are part of it problem but i really like how it looks. my question is what performance mods can i do tow make it have.more power without destroying my brand new trans i just got.i have a superchip that came with the truck but i know that these are not well liked with hardcore diesel guys. Have a cool air intake and just orderd a 3inch downtube kit and some guages are next. any thoughts. things like injectors are not out of the question.

what cold air kit do you have most of us do the 6637 filter mod. a 3 inch down pipe and 4 inch strait pipe are also recomended. as far as a chip goes get custom tunes from tw or php

not sure on the brand, it was on there when i got it but i already have 4 inch after the down pipe to 6 inch miters. i have been looking into the 6637 mod and im thinking i may do it. what i have npw looks like it been there awhile and the filter is about shot

is it red? if so more than likely a k&n, and sounds like you got exhaust covered, got piks? and as far as chips, custom tunes will be better, and i have tx i really like them a lot, and if you got the coin go ahead and do injectors and turbostage 2's and a d66 would fit the bill and dont forget the hpop from term or adrenaline

Sounds to me like you have 3.55 gears. How much weight are you towing? You can throw lots of goodies at it to make lots of power to overcome the proper gearing but if your new trans doesn't have a valve body set up with shift enhancements and a heavy duty torque converter you may want to rethink tire size or gearing or put some more money into the trans first.

well if you wana keep that trans.... was it a HD TQ???
-need a HD TQ
-put in a BTS valve body
-huge trans cooler, a 31 row SD cooler is great or a TRU-COOL MAX

yes had a hd torque covertor installed but stock rebuild otherwise. have been looking into a bigger cooler. i know i have 4.10 gears and im hauling about 6500 pounds or so. i think the injectors are still factory so prolly alittle worn out 180,000 miles. im going to change the downpipe and see what happens. the only reason i am doing this is me and a buddy were both hauling our jeeps up north side by side on a steep hill and his 96 cummins blew me away and thats not cool. but he has stock tires and a few performance mods.

forgot to mention there is also a shift kit in the trans now also.
