cam position sensor intermittint error

i have a 97 f250 heavy duty and with my edge programer when i scan for errors cam position sensor intermintent error. first question where is the cam postion sensor located? what causes that error?

between crank and water pump
easy to get from underneath truck
bad sensor from factory, replace and keep one with you in the glove

i am fairly new to the diesel world does it cause it to run rough when thats not working and do u have a rough cost and possibly a part #

run rough and shut down. a cps is about $30 if I remember correctly

The black international brand one is the one to get that's what I replaced mine with on two of my trucks and it is well worth it idles stronger and timing overall is better I think
