1997 powerstroke rebuilt ecm now less fuel mileage

I got my '97 f250 computer was rebuilt runs like a top. The shop didn't want to put my Diablo sport power chip back in they said it might have caused the computer problem now I only get 12 to 13 mpg.

Advice?????????

After being charged nearly $2400 for their explorition and hearing some of the complaints from other people I would have to say NOT very reputable. Just wondering if I would be better off splurging for a programmer instead?

Agreed. Hell, the only time I'll consider the dealership is for some serious diagnostic issues. The dealership here employs a Ford certified master tech, has gone to the diesel training at Ford, and is an ASE master tech... in other words... completely worth the $95/hr to have him spend half a day doing THOROUGH diagnosis if needed.

Or... if you're friends with him, offer to buy him a case of beer and let him borrow your truck for a week so he can move his boat back from the lake in exchange for a diagnosis

must be nice,

i wouldnt splurge on a programmer either way, just go ahead and get custom tunes, that will be better for ya, but you still need to see whats up with your economy, chip wont make that big of a difference in anything

The problem is they are a Diesel shop and I was charged for a lot of troubleshooting time the say I was not billed for all the time. As my Father in law said I would be better off changing all the glow plugs, harness'es, relay, shunt and any thing else I could think of.

DAM GOOD THING I WANT TO KEEP THE TRUCK !!!!

Thanks for the advise I think I will research programmers. just talked to a guy today had a 3 stage edge programmer it didn't improve the mpg.

so????? any prefrence?????
