Chip or Valve body?

Kinda having a dilemma: I'm eventually getting both a 6pos chip, and the BTS valve body for my trans. From what I've heard, the chips are supposed to fix some of the shifting issues, but would the valve body need to be figured into a custom burn? Or is it the other way round

Depends who does ur tuning and ur Trans but your best bet is to do both just don't get generic tunes

As my Trans guy put it if there ain't anything wrong w ur valve body mod yours bc u don't know if the reman one has a hidden problem

From what I gather the valve body will have more to do with shift firmness and the chip will have more to do with shift timing. That is something I am kind of dealing with now, just installed a custom built transmission and the shifts are not firm enough for me so the trans shop is going to rework the valve body then this spring I plan to install stage I's and go a different route than my superchip.

Well the BTS I've heard is pretty good, and for 250 bones its a pretty cheap trans upgrade. What did you mean by "remanned"? Also I'm planning on getting the Tony Wildman chip, its a little more expensive but I like the tunes he offers.

I'd say valve body then tunes.
It would be a shame to get the truck tuned, then fry the transmission because the valve body wasn't up to the task.

get the VB and then tunes.... but tell BTS that you are plannig to put a chip in the truck so he can modd the VB accorgingly thats what he did for me.

as for the hidden problem with cores... i belive all his VBs are top notch when you get them, and could elimintate that problem by sending in your first you can avoid that problem but ure turck wil be down longer.

That's the feedback I've been hearing about his work, so I wasn't real worried. The thought was grab the VB out of my down trans so I can avoid any downtime Is there anyway to tell if a VB is good/bad?
