Ive found a dana 60-Questions

I found a guy on craigslist about two months ago parting out a 1996 F350 4x4 dually. I went and looked at it and all the steering components seemed wore out and most likely some other things. It has 4.11 gears and mine are 3.55s. Two months ago he was asking 1000 buck for the axle, trac bar bracket, leaf springs, and all the steering, everything needed to put in my truck (1997 f250 4x4) It has not sold and is still on there and he will now take 800 bucks and no lower. I am lost when it comes to a price on these things. Anyone have opinions on his price and how much I could end up spending on normal wearing parts.

I got my dana 60 for 500 but when I disassembled it at home I found out it needed everything. From spindle bearings and seals to the pinion bearings and different bearings. Turns out it had been under water and they knew it. If only the steering conponets were bad I'd say 800 isn't too bad. If you can Check the ball joints, wheel bearings, and u-joints for play. I put about 800 in my front axle to get it under my truck. Does it have brake calipers with it?

yes it does have brake calipers. would the calipers on my ttb work?

the biggest thing your gonna have to spend on is changing gears in one of the axles( like putting 410 in your current rear or 355 in the dana 60) offer him 800 for both axles so you have the ability to swap and have the same gear ratio.

if you have to drop alot of money into putting a D60 under the truck, it maybe better off looking at a 05+ axle swap

800 bucks then you gotta change gears and get new steeering.....pass man, theres better deals out there. got my setup for $150. it needed new brakes and steering and a reagear but your still savin $700
