Injection Control Pressure Q
I was able to use a brand new Solus Scanner today. The truck (2001 auto with 112k miles) has been running rough and smoking so I knew something was up. I got code P0284, so I guess I am looking at repalceing #8 injector. I can deal with that.
My question is my Injection control pressure. I have 465-487 @ idle and 1,200@ 2,500rpm. I assume that the idle bouncing around is due to the poor idle casued by the # 8 Cont. fault but do these number seem correct otherwise?? Thanks Guys~ |

Your idle measurement sounds about right.
the best test for your HPOP is top gear WOT pull from 60- 90 mph. post up your IPR % and ICP pressure for more diagnosis. |

7% IPR??? thats crazy. usually duty cycle goes over 30%. sounds like you have a very healthy pump holding 2850 psi.

No nothing I bought this truck brand new in 01. So what do you think, should I just look to replace the #8 injector and if so any reccomendations to who to go to for it?

If you wanna keep the truck stock, replacing that one injector should be ok. personally, I would pull em all and do new O-rings. not too expensive, and good piece of mind.
I heard the newer o-rings hold up better then our OBS ones, so you might be okay. |

OK, I can do that. I am going to not mess with this truck, it has been my DD from day one and can't be without it. Any Recommendations to an injector?

Don't buy anything from Pensacola Diesel. They are the cheapest price and are crap. I got mine from Beans,very happy with them and no problems. I wasted about $800 on Pensacola Diesel and they were crap after 24K.

Yah man for sure. I'm a Cummins guy also and Pensocola has the nasty rap there too. Thanks for the info I will check with beans, I was looking @ Full Force but I guess if I am going to buy a NEW injector it's not a big deal.

One more lamo question: Is the # 8 injector the same as the others? Seams I read somewhere it is different?
