96 regular cab 4x4 7.3

I just recently bought a 1996 regular cab 4x4 7.3 with around 150,000 miles. I have around 5 grand left to put into performance parts. Any suggestions on what i should do? Lookin for lots of hp and torque

Is it stick or auto?

first thing would be buy gauges, 3" downpipe, and a tymar style (6637) intake.

I would make sure you have posi in the back or buy some kind of locker, so you can get the power down.

$5000 will get you 500hp if you search.

Is it stock?
First off get:
Napa 6337/Fram 8037 air filter $20-60
3" DP $80-100
4"-5" exhaust (homeade or buy a kit) $50-$400
TS 6pos chip Buy it used for around $200-250 & reburn for $140 or buy new for $400-500 already custom burned.
EGT, Boost, Tranny Gauges $50-150ea (depending on what you want)
Stage 1 or 2 injectors $1200-1700
T500 HPOP $300-600?
You might want to get a shift kit for the tranny seeing that it will probly slip with high HP. which can cost anywhere from $2000-$6k!
your gonna NEed to get a 38R garret or a H2E turbo for the truck. anywhere from $1400-2000

These are the beggining of your mods. IF you can find them for less GO for it. hunt around for deals or buy new? either way!

Contact rosewood diesel for budget built injectors and save some serious wad, and gauges are a must, I got all autometer z series and a 4 gauge pod, I monitor egt, boost, hpop, and trans. DIY intake or get a new sweet one, down pipe, straight pipe it, and get a turbo, stage 2's and a d66 and a good hpop should help ya, but when your makin good power make sure you do proper support mods, head studs, valve springs, get tour tranny up to snuff. Since you have the $$ hp doesnt fall out of the sky, ALOT needs to be done to the truck to get there.....these prices are DIY, $5000 wont get far paying someone to do the work.

DIY intake $75 (max) search 6637 (Gabe )
3" down pipe $100
4-5" exhaust $400
Gauges $350
HPOP 350-$1400
E-fuel 400-$700 (stock pump wont put out enough to do what you want)
Intercooler $550 (DIY)
Custom tunes 450-$600 (reburns are free)
IDM Mod 1-$100
Really you should do the transmission too if its an auto, you will need a new clutch if its a stick, anyway youve now spent $3225 of your money...but you are fairly well set up for your future plans and you have about $1775 left. For the $1775 I would do...
Stage 2 injectors $1250
D66 Turbo $1100
This puts you a little over budget but you will have a well built truck that WILL haul the mail. I might have overlooked small things but this is about all you will get for $5000 ish and you still havent touched your trans or clutch.

Told you I would forget a few things. For most people the filter costs $30. Either way its a good baseline for where ALOT of your money ends up
