codes deleted??
Hi
I have a 1997 7.3 turbo power stroke. my question is Will unhooking the batery for several hous delete any code that may have been in the computer. I have had some trouble with somthing and the check engine lite came on several times and I had am appointment for wed. to have a ford repair man to hook up his code reader.............Then I had started problems and had the battery unhooked for several hours.....now do I need to go on a trip and get the lite to come back on again before he looks for codes???? Thankyou for answering my question Kyle |

You shouldn't have to. Pretty much all newer OBD 2 type vehicles will retain logged trouble codes, even if you undo the battery cables. That really only worked on early OBD 1 vehicles.

ok Thankyou and that is good news because sometimes the light comes on in less that 20 miles and sometimes 50 to 100 miles I never know.
Thankyou Kyle |
