What to look for (couple of questions)

Going to look at a truck this weekend. 95 F350 7.3. The guy is putting new glow plugs in it so thats a check. New brakes, Clutch, brake lines ball joints and tires. Its a 5 speed transmission. Are these transmissions pretty good? I can imagine its no nv 4500 but are they better or worse then an auto. What kind of things should a newbie look for? Im a mechanic by trade but have never done much with the 7.3's. Thanks in advance!

And the ZF5s are pretty dang tough. Depending on the year it might have a PTO on it as well. My 1994.5 had one on its manual transmission
