Just had to share... Some people...

So local kid here in Idaho has an ECLB F-250. 94 PSD. 5spd, 4x4, 200,000. Perfect for me to merge with mine and get a Long bed, then put one semi crappy SB back together and sell it cheap. (ish ) So I called the kid, truck won't start. He doesn't have any clue why, can't tell me symptoms. Says he tried to start it last week, cranked on it for like 15 min straight then just quit... so the starter is toast, we can start there. I asked him if it smoked at all, he says "dude, when it's pegged you can't see anything there's so much smoke" once again, you freaking .

Yes, there is white smoke on cranking, we managed to deduce that, with a little effort
I asked him if he'd ever tested the GPR. He asked what a GPR is

Asked if he plugged it in when it gets cold out... He lauged and said they only car you can plug in is one of those gay @$$ hybrid electric cars...

He wants 9000.

I offered him 1500, told him it sounded like the motor was shot, and i'd have to rebuild it.
Is that terrible? Or is he dumb enough I can do it with a clean conscience?

I figured it'd at least be worth a laugh.

What a meathead.

I paid 1200 for a 95 in average/rough condition that has weak injectors. Unless the body and interior are in mint condition, 1500 is all it is worth. Some people have no idea what things are worth.

I'll tell you what's wrong with it.

1. There's a loose nut between the steering wheel and the headrest. Or as I call the problem a dumba$$ mod.

Well the GPR shows 0 volts... I got it started and idling for at least ten minutes. Seems just fine to me. He, of course, then said 9000. He won't budge an inch on the price. It's pretty straight, and in decent shape, but even as a strong runner I wouldn't give him more than 4000. It needs a clutch, tires are bald, he took out the stereo and speakers, wants to keep his brush guard. Has a turnover ball, says that for 9500 i can have it, I didn't have the heart to tell him I can get them for 350 new through the local trailer shop...

Whatever, there will be other trucks.

Let him sit on it for awhile and see what happens... Hell i would tell him the how to and the what for on it. I would say it might be worth the 9k if it had a D60 and some mods but that would be on the high end, plus the rest of the truck would have to be mint...

You never shoulda got it started in front of him. Truck like that (and a SELLER like that), you just "fiddle" on it, once it starts to catch you make sure it DOESN'T start (pull the #22 fuse or something), then go on about how much work it obviously needs. Tell 'im you gotta come back with a rollback.

Somebody on one of the sites bought a truck on the cheap from a guy selling it with a "blown tranny". He came with a buddy, loaded it on his flat-bed, pulled away, got it around the corner out of sight, pulled the t-case shifter out of neutral into 2HI, backed it off the trailer and his buddy drove it home.

People who have no idea what they're selling, and are glib about it, deserve the "clueless seller discount".
