Max boost?
Hey guys I just purchased my first diesel a couple days ago, 97 f250 7.3(obviously lol) extended cab reg bed. Im starting off by doing the three most common mods, programmer, exhaust, and intake. I am thinking of getting the edge evolution cts because of all the features and that I wont need to install pillar gauges. Now here is my concern what does a stock 97 f250 non intercooled boost? I have been doing my homework and read that these trucks will only read up to 22lbs of boost therefor the evolution would only read up to 22lbs of boost opposed to a pillar gauge that would read a much larger number. How much roughly would I boost after 4" straight pipe exhaust, intake, and the programmer? Basically I dont want to screw myself by buying this programmer and then not being able to read my max boost. Sorry if this is not posted in the right section today is my first day on the forums thanks!

With a tune on my 97 super cab short bed with intake down pipe, straight pipe, and edge EVO I could hit 20-27 psi boost, but my crew cab with no mods other than the edge would hit almost 20, but stock I hit about 16 psi with only an intake, good luck and welcome to the org

On my truck I have a downpipe to 4 inch and an intake and I hit 22psi with no tuner.

i think basically from what i hear most are in the 18 to 22 range, some hit more with tunes

All hit more tuned over stock.

Are you getting the CTS to serve as the gauges and programmer, or just gauges? If your going to get it for tunes then please save your money and get a custom tuned TS, or at least get PHP tunes on it.
Now as to the technical stuff, our old tuned OBS would hit 24-26, but the consensus is mid 20's max on stock injectors. Stock it should be around 16. So it should be out of the range of the stock MAP sensor reading. You can either live with that, or if you want a more accurate boost gauges get the Edge universal sensor, or whatever its called, and just use it for your boost reading. |

i wouldn't waste your money on the edge. get some custom tunes and some pillar gauges. the custom tunes will be the best for your money and best overall. as for boost, i'm not really sure what they hit cause i didn't have my boost gauge until my injectors went in. but i can hit about 35-37.
