E40D trans problems what to do$$$!

ok guys i needed some serious help and direction. my trans. is pretty much done. as far as i know it was the original trans to the truck the truck is a 97 f250 hd crew cab with 282,xxx miles on it. the trans is acting up shifting hard and the od light is flashing, when the truck is scanned it get a P1728 code, transmission slip error converter clutch fault. the front converted/pump seal also looks to be leaking. so the trans has to come out of the truck. i might as well do a rebuild or replace.

my feeling is if i am going to replace is why not put something a bit better in well doing it. i was thinking of going with an ats stage 2 trans. i have heard good and bad about ats. what do you guys think, can you recommend any other trans? i tow my camper with the truck as well as a trailer with a car on it from time to time. i want something that is going to be strong and last.

the truck have no mods on it, only thing is a good set of gauges

BTS, John Wood or RacerX are good choices.

That is a great choice! The ATS would not have been. Cheers!

Your not to far from me... Place i had build my last 2 E4OD's is top notch. They build competition and racing transmissions, and work on alot of diesels. I can hook up up with them if you like. BTS is an excellent choice though, along with JW...

BTW how come your not a member of our NY Powerstroke Chapter???

I know a lot of Dodge guys have good luck with ATS, but in all my years on Ford diesel forums. I have yet to see anything positive about people's ATS E4OD experiences. Cheers!
