new AE scanner arriving Friday. What's the best wiring diagram to buy for diagnostics
Hi, just got tracking email from Clay that my AE scanner will arrive on Friday. I found this service manual for my truck (assuming all wiring diagram included). Is it what I need for general mechanical and electrical diagnostic work? I want to order it soon, so when I get the scanning data Saturday, I know where to look for what. It does not sound very expensive for a set of service manual. Just want to make sure that it's the right thing. Thanks. Erwin

Depends on what the manual set includes. There's a Body/Chassis book, a Powertrain/Drivetrain book, and a Powerstroke "supplement". You def. want all those. But what's often not included, and you may have to find separately, is the EVTM - Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual. It contains the most detailed wiring diagrams and pinouts of the connectors, and locations of the connectors and components.

You can find Service CDs on ebay for $10-30. the CD will have the EVTM manual.

The paper versions are much better when trying to run stuff down ib the shop ... yeah I know that the e-versions can be printed by page, but it's a pain and the quality isn't as good. The EVTM is a good manual to buy in paper and it's only about $22-30 from Helm Inc. Cheers!

If a guy is running AE, he probably has a laptop. Mine is always close at hand when I'm working on the truck.
