Synthetic oil question

I want to switch my truck over to synthetic since the winter months are almost here. My autos teacher was saying I shouldn't due to how many miles I have on the truck. (225k). What do you guys think? I don't want to spend all that cash on it to end up having the truck burn it.

You'll be fine I switched at 140k miles.

Truck runs and starts better in the cold.

You can switch back and forth, no issues. As long as the engine is healthy, switching will not effect it. I have used synthetic in both auto and bike engines as old as 1970, never had an issue, nothing but positive results!

I just changed mine to Rotella T6 5W-40 last weekend. Was using Rotella 15W-40. Truck seems to start easier and run smoother, although it hasn't gotten that cold in Maryland yet. We shall see- winter is coming!

I have been debating on switching next time I change my oil. It has been in the 60-80's here still so cold starts have not been a problem.
