Oil dipstick flange orings

Well mine were leaking just like most others very common problem. And to my suprise this was an EASY fix, $9.00 worth of gaskets at dealer the dipstick tube oring was like $5.48 and the flange oring was only $2.84. I was kinda leary at first of doing it due to the fact that if you drop the flange then you have to remove engine and remove oil pan. but as the instructions listed below ( I picked up from another forum member on here ) states, use a 1/2" gallery cleaning brush, but I also at the end of the brush ( got at home depot for $2.29, I tied some sting in case it fell off into oil pan I could "fish" it out.

also the write up calls for a "paper" type of gasket behind nut and to use silicone on the flange itself, but everyone I talked to said just install the $2.84 oring and reinstall the outer paper gasket was not needed. the dipstick tube gasket I just replaced b/c I knew that if I didn't it would leak.. lol

like I said this is a very easy repair these instructions say to remove starter, but I did not have to was able to work around it.

hopefully others can find this info as useful as me, b/c without this write-up I don't think that I could have done it so quickly and accurately..
