Buying a Truck -- Looking for some advice.
HI guys, i just have a quick question. Im 19 and looking to pick up a vehicle.. and a big fan of Super Dutys.. my dad had two for company trucks (99 and 01) and put over a million miles on between the two. Anyways I'm looking at a 96 f250 regular cab 4x4 auto. But am a little worried about fuel economy. How does it compare to a 302? worse or better? I know each truck is different, just looking for an average... something to base a decision on. Any answers a good answer.. Thanks guys.

with a truck that size, I'd think you would get better mileage than if you had a 302 in it...
I had a 97 F150 with a 4.6 V8 in it (I think the 302 equivalent) and my 01 F250 w/a 7.3 gets 4-5 MPG better mileage.... |

I had an 02 F250 with the 5.4 V8 (CC Short Box)...and I am getting A LOT better mileage with my 07 KR...I am not sure on the weight of my 02, but my PSD must weigh more, and I drive it hard on my Xtreme Street setting daily.

Yeah fords gassers are absolutely terrible for fuel mileage. My 2001 explorer sport on a good day got 18 on the highway and thats the 2 door model. The 302 in my opinion is the best ford gasser out there. Its no comparison really a gasser and a diesel if you can afford the diesel go for it
