Injector timing

This may be a stupid question, but is the timing for the injectors controlled mechanically or electronically? My truck acts some what like a gasser with the ignition timing off just a little. Almost like it's timing is retarded. Could a trip to the dealer correct this, or is it something I could do?

The best defense is a good offense, and I'm really offensive!

Timing is electronic, and from what I have read, Modifing the signal from the EOT (engine oil temp) sensor can really retard/advance injector timing. There are quite a few articles on the web regarding this mod. Also, the IDM (injector driver module) mod is said to cause a slight advance in timing.
