Considering 1995 F250 7.3

I'm new to diesels and the truck I am looking at has 180k on it. The owner claims the tranny was serviced every 30k, but never rebuilt. Its been plowing for 8 years, only residential I am told. Am I buying a money pit here? How much is a rebuild if it dies on me? Thanks guys and great site you have here!

What did he mean by "serviced"? I have a '97 and have been plowing with it since new. I change my tranny fluid every year. When the truck isn't plowing, it is pulling around 12,000 lbs. almost daily. 290,000 + and still have the original trans.
