Turbo spool; 97 F350
Maybe it is just me:
I do not here my turbo spool, ever. Should I ??? Truck is a 97 F350 all stock, down the air cleaner box. Auto, CC, DRW. Owned the truck for six years and never had a bit of problem out of it. (except for my current brake problems) |

yes. unless your truck is just crazy arse loud.
take the intake off, check the compressor wheel for damage, side to side play, and be sure that it spins freely. also check the up-pipes for soot aroudn the gaskets, youll lose drive pressure there. |

if its all stock you wont hear much. the downpipe and muffler kill any noise

thats true. i never had a stock DP. but everything else was, i could hear the turbo with no trouble. maybe the DP muffles it a bit...

The Downpipe really muffles it and so does the stock intake. I did put the 6637 filter on and it made it noticeable. Still got the downpipe so I only really hear it above 2000rpm

all my trucks were stock when I got them and you couldnt hear the turbo at all. So long as he is just talking about hearing the turbo vs the turbo actually spooling up

i stand corrected then!
i could hear it with my 3" DP. when i put my 6637 on, wow! sounds great! |

I do not here it spooling when accelerating from a stop or while driving. Truck runs great, has around 150K on it. Diesels are a mystery to me, I understand how they work but this is the 1st one I have owned.
