Starter Opinions

OK, I need a starter. I am trying to decide on a gear reduction as in the DB product or a gear reduction as in the 2002-2003 starter. I think starter size will be the only difference.

Opinions?

All starters are gear reduction, even the stock one. Either go with the OBS stock style, or SD two-bolt unit.

The OBS starter is not gear reduced. That is based on the old one being on my workbench torn apart. If the commutator was not bad I would rebuild it. But a armature is more than one from DB.

NAPA is real proud of theirs and budgets are budgets.

You must have an aftermarket starter then. Every OBS starter I have worked on has a planetary gearset between the motor shaft and the output gear.
