Turbo Inspection
I have read a few threads about inspection on the turbo and wanted to see if anyone can tell me more. I am going to look at a stock turbo out of a 95-97 7.3L and thinking about buying it. Is there anything I can do to inspect it, I mean other than check for damage and shaft play. Also if my truck has 250k is it time to change the turbo?

Basically if theirs little shaft play, and it spins freely (don't spin it without putting a little fresh oil in it) then you should be alright.
I don't think it much matters how many miles your turbo has on it as long as the shaft play is ok and it spins good. |

Right on, thanks for the help. The reason I ask is because the guy that has this turbo is only asking for 200 so I figured it may be handy to have a spare in my garage.

I looked at the turbo today, there was no shaft play everything look good, no nicks or anything. i do not know how many miles are on it. Do you think this is worth $125 without knowing the mileage?
