new here,cam sensor tool question

hows it going everyone,just got a f250 7.3 2x4 single cab long bed 90000 miles,i replaced the cam position sensor because the truck would shut off every once in a while,it fixed it but someone was telling me about a tool to check the gap for the sensor,is this really needed?

Never heard of having to check for a gap. Once it's bolted in,that's it

yeah thats new to me as well. i can see the reasoning, but wouldnt worry about it.

The only time I've ever heard about something like this was due to some engines having cam walk, and the timing gear would destroy the front of the sensor. The remedy was to shim the sensor outward. Unless there is physical damage to your sensor, you should have nothing to worry about.
