Is this ring gear saveable?

I blew the spider gears out and it chipped my ring gear. If its not cracked and I smooth down the chips should it be ok?

I myself would not re-use an old gear that has been damaged. It will probably come back to haunt you inthe near future. If you put enough torque to it to do that to it, im sure there are cracks that you cannot see that run deeper into the gear itself.

Even if it doesn't crack, you will almost for sure get a noise.

You can't see small cracks in the ring gear-I'd replace it personally, along with all the bearings in the differential.

Just pick up a rear from the salvage yard for $100. Pulled the cover check the backlash and side play good to go buttoned it up putting it under my truck today. Save u some $$. If u have a pullapart they will give u a warranty and u can exchange the rear for another.

Replace - Filing down the those gears is going to end up haunting you.

You might get away with it for awhile - Looking at your truck - It seems like you are in the dirt. I would not chance being somewhere in a mud hole (job site or playing) and the whole thing blows up.
